Malkangiri, 8th Aug 2025: In Gobindapalli village under Khairaput block of Malkangiri district, the road leading to the high school—being constructed by the Rural Development Department—remains incomplete even after four long months.
The road project, estimated to cost around ₹40 lakhs, is being neglected by the contractor. While the initial work progressed at some pace, villagers allege that only half the road has been built, and the contractor has been absent for a long time, showing no interest in resuming the work.
As a result, villagers are facing severe hardships, especially during the monsoon season. Some concrete work has been done, but blocks and materials have been left unfinished. A portion of the road was layered with sand and left as is.
This incomplete work has made daily commuting difficult for both students and common residents who use the road regularly.
According to the villagers, no action has been taken by the administration to resume or speed up the work. The community is growing increasingly frustrated and has demanded immediate intervention.
If authorities fail to act, the villagers have warned that they will launch a protest.
