Umerkote,17th Nov 2025: A garage located on Kandagaon Road in Umerkote town of Nabarangpur district caught fire at midnight on Sunday and was completely gutted. The garage, which was made of wood, was entirely destroyed in the blaze.
According to reports, the owner, Biswajit Tarafdar, had closed the garage at night and left. However, around midnight, the garage caught fire. Due to some burnt mobile oil stored inside, the intensity of the fire increased rapidly. Many items kept inside the garage were burnt and destroyed.
Fire inside the garage was being brought under control.
The estimated value of the destroyed materials is around Rs. 30,000. Late at night, the fire services department received information and rushed to the spot. Under the leadership of officer Bhagirth Banua, a team reached the location and brought the fire under control.
However, the exact cause of the fire is still unclear. Since there was no electricity connection to the garage, the owner suspects that miscreants might have deliberately set it on fire.
