Bhubaneswar, Dec, 29: From January 6, 2026, the admission process will begin for economically weaker section (EWS) students in the state’s residential schools for the academic year 2026-27.

- Registration Period: January 6 – February 8
- First Round Online Applications: February 10 – March 10
- First Round Lottery & School Allocation: March 16
- First Round Admission Completion: March 17 – March 31
- Second Round Online Registration: April 4 – April 24
- Second Round Application Verification: April 27
- Second Round Lottery & School Allocation: April 27
- Second Round Admission Completion: April 29 – May 18
- All Admissions Conclude: By July 15
The Department of School & Mass Education has instructed all District Education Officers (DEOs) and Block Education Officers (BEOs) to expedite the admission process. According to RTE Act 2009, Section 21.1(c), admissions in residential schools for EWS students will be free of cost.
From January 6 to February 8, parents/guardians must submit details for new school registration.
DEOs and BEOs will verify the submitted information during this period.
From February 10 to March 10, students can register online for the first round of admission.
BEOs will verify applications by February 15, and the lottery for seat allocation will be conducted on March 16.
Admission for the first round will be completed between March 17 and March 31.
The second round of online registration will be held from April 4 to April 24, with verification by BEOs on April 27, followed by a lottery and school allocation on the same day.
Admissions from the second round will be completed between April 29 and May 18.
The entire admission process for the academic year 2026-27 will conclude by July 15, 2026.
This ensures that all EWS category students get the opportunity to enroll in residential schools free of cost and benefit from quality education.
