Foundation Stone Laid for Mega Drinking Water Project at Konark

Konark: In the presence of Hon’ble Minister for Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water, and Rural Development, Shri Rabi Narayan Nayak, the foundation stone for the Mega Drinking Water Supply Project was laid by Deputy Chief Minister Smt. Prabhati Parida. This project will benefit 84 villages from 14 panchayats in Gop block, 6 villages from 2 panchayats in Nimapada block, and 67 villages from 12 panchayats in Puri Sadar block.

The project, with a total cost of Rs213.98 crore, aims to provide clean drinking water to 1,34,167 people in these regions. Villages such as Ganeshwarpur, Nuaalamar, Andira, and Ichhapur will benefit from this initiative.

The Deputy CM emphasized that clean drinking water is essential for good health and a disease-free life, along with nutritious food. She reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring access to safe drinking water for everyone.

Review Meeting at Konark Yatri Nivas

Later, at the Konark Yatri Nivas, the Deputy CM, along with senior officials from the Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water Department, including the Secretary, Director, and RWS&S officials, held a discussion on drinking water issues in Nimapada constituency. Instructions were given to resolve all issues within a stipulated timeframe.

She assured that the government prioritizes solving public issues and is actively working to address them. A review meeting on the drinking water projects in Puri district was also held, attended by the Hon’ble Minister, senior officials, and stakeholders.
