Bhubaneswar: Former Minister Prithviraj Harichandan reviewed the progress of roads, bridges, and building projects under the Works Department, each valued at over ₹100 crore. During a meeting held at the Convention Hall of Lok Seva Bhavan, he emphasized that no delays or compromises in quality would be tolerated. To ensure this, departmental officials, including chief engineers, superintending engineers, and executive engineers, will regularly monitor the work and conduct monthly progress reviews.
Additionally, officials have been instructed to address contractors’ concerns and expedite project completion. All agencies and contractors must adhere to deadlines, and strict action will be taken against any entity found responsible for delays or quality issues. The government will not back down on this matter. Furthermore, the minister stated that future project approvals would be based on previous performance records.
Action Against Delays & Monthly Contract Management Meetings
The meeting covered key infrastructure projects, including major roads such as the Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, and Jaypur bypasses, as well as the development of hospitals in Koraput, Jaypur, Jajpur, and the Capital Hospital. Progress on large bridge projects over various rivers across the state was also reviewed.
Senior officials, including former Secretary Bir Bikram Yadav, Chief Engineer Purnachandra Mahapatra, Works Department Secretary L.K. Padhi, OBCC Managing Director Samir Hota, and representatives from different agencies, participated in the review meeting.
