Baipariguda: The Baipariguda Forest Department has seized three wild boars, according to reports. On Monday evening, acting on a tip-off, a team led by the Damanjodi Beat Forester raided Tikirapada village under Majhiguda Panchayat and confiscated three wild boars. However, no suspects were apprehended in the process.
According to officials, they had received information that the wild boars were being kept in the village for illegal sale. Initially, the team found one boar tied to the base of a tree, and a short distance away, they located two more. However, due to a limited number of staff, the team could not stay at the site for long and had to return.
Questions have been raised about why the officials were not better prepared despite having prior information. It is also noted that wild boars are naturally aggressive, but these were reportedly juveniles and had been kept as pets by some locals. This suggests that the animals were under human supervision.
On Tuesday, when some individuals revisited the site, there were allegations of commotion during the investigation. When contacted, Baipariguda Forest Officer Sandip Panigrahi stated that he had not been informed by the concerned staff before the raid. Meanwhile, when the inquiry was directed at Ranjita Nayak, another senior forest officer, she responded, “I have done my job well. Why are you interrogating me?”
