Forest Department Warns of Elephant Movement on Daringbadi–Sorada Road

Phulbani –20th Sept 2025:  In Kandhamal district, the fear of elephants, especially in the G. Udayagiri area, continues to trouble the local people. Recently, the Gajalabadi stretch of the Daringbadi–Sorada road has once again become a cause of concern due to elephant movement.

Locals are now afraid to travel by bike or car on this route.

The Forest Department has issued a warning, urging travelers to maintain strict caution while passing through the area. Warning boards have also been installed along the road.

This road is a key connector between:

Daringbadi and Sorada to Brahmapur

Aska–Sorada to Daringbadi–Baliguda,
and witnesses heavy daily traffic.

Drivers have reported spotting elephant herds crossing or walking along the road at various times. The Forest Department confirmed that this road lies on a natural elephant corridor.

Hence, the department has requested all commuters to remain vigilant at all times to avoid any untoward incidents.
