Kotpad, Dec, 30:A football tournament was held today at Ma Thakurani in Kotpad Girla Panchayat Ankula. The chief guest of the event was Kotpad MLA Rupu Bhatra. Other honored guests included former MLA Chandrashekhar Majhi, former Minister Padmini Dian, Congress MLA candidate Anamu Dian, Block President Kamala Bhitara, Zilla Parishad member Tripati Chalan, Geeta Majhi, all PRI members of Kotpad Block, all Sarpanches, Samiti members, KCC Bank Vice President Drupada Bhatra, Pani Panchayat President Balakrishna Bishoi, and many others.
Among others present were all party workers of the Kotpad region, members of the Bhatera community, members of the Bharat Media Association, and media friends. The event was conducted smoothly under the leadership of the Vice President and Ma Thakurani Football Committee President Tapan Panigrahi with full cooperation from all members.
Today’s final match was held between the Girla and Maka villages. The match ended in a tough contest and went to penalty shootouts, where Girla won with a 5-3 margin and were crowned champions. After the final, all the guests congratulated the winners. The winning Girla team received a trophy along with Rs 25,000, while the runner-up Maka village team received a trophy and Rs 20,000.
