Food Safety Inspectors Conduct Raid at Local Bakery

Nabarangpur: The Food Safety Department conducted a raid on the Bangalore Bakery shop in Nabarangpur town. The food items prepared in the bakery were found to be unhygienic. The employees involved in baking and cake-making had no knowledge of food safety. There was no proper labeling or identification system to distinguish between vegetarian and non-vegetarian items.

According to food safety norms, bakery and cake items should have a shelf life of seven days. However, the items in the shop did not mention their manufacturing dates, said Food Safety Inspector Arun Kumar Maharana. Expired and unsanitary items were destroyed on the spot. The shop owner was instructed to mention the manufacturing dates on all products.

Additionally, the shop did not have a valid GST bill, and GST officials were notified for further investigation. The owner has been given seven days to rectify all deficiencies. If the necessary improvements are not made within this period, strict action will be taken. Expressing dissatisfaction over the expired bakery and cake items, authorities discarded them in the dustbin.
