Nabarangpur, Jan, 09:: Mukund Jani and his wife Landai Jani, residents of Nabarangpur Municipal Colony, tragically passed away in a road accident on October 3rd of the previous year. The accident occurred near Taragan village on National Highway-26, between Nabarangpur and Papadahandi. The couple was traveling when the fatal accident occurred. The family of the deceased is from a very poor background and their financial situation was not strong, requiring assistance for their survival and livelihood.

In light of this, Nabarangpur MLA Gauri Shankar Majhi informed the Nabarangpur District Collector through a letter that the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund had approved a financial assistance of ₹8 lakh for the bereaved family. The District Collector, Dr. Maheshwar Swain, through letter number 18523 dated 09-12-2025, forwarded the request to the state government for approval of the compassionate aid.

The state government, with due seriousness, considered the request, and in the New Year, the Odisha government through the General Administration and Public Grievance Department, Bhubaneswar (letter number 45 dated 09-10-2017), sanctioned the ₹8 lakh as compassionate assistance from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. The family of the deceased has expressed their gratitude to the Odisha Government, the Nabarangpur MLA, and the District Collector for their generosity and support.
