Farmer Rush as Rabi Registration Begins—Technical Glitches and Shortages Spark Frustration

Kotpad ,26th July 2025: As the registration process for the ongoing Kharif farming season is underway at the Kotpad Cooperative Society, large crowds of farmers have gathered outside the office. With the government setting July 31 as the last date for registration, the process has become stressful due to limited arrangements—only one counter is open, and persistent network issues are severely hampering operations.

As a result, farmers from far-flung areas are forced to wait all day, from morning till evening. Many of them have alleged that they are having to make xerox copies of registration forms themselves due to a lack of basic support.

In addition, a significant number of farmers have still not received payments for their last Rabi crop, raising concerns about how they will manage their expenses for the current Kharif season.

Farmers have also reported that despite agricultural activities being in full swing in some panchayats and villages, fertilizers are yet to be supplied by the Cooperative Department. Though tokens have already been issued, the distribution is delayed, leaving farmers in distress.

Adding to their woes, reports suggest that fertilizers are being sold at inflated prices in rural areas due to the shortage. Many farmers and local citizens have expressed concern and urged the agriculture department to take immediate action.

There is growing consensus that technical and systemic inefficiencies must be addressed quickly to ensure that farmers do not suffer further during a crucial cultivation period.
