Malkangiri: A consultation meeting was held on Wednesday in the conference hall of a hotel in Malkangiri district’s Dar subdivision, where both male and female farmers from various rural areas were advised on cultivating advanced varieties of paddy. Representatives from high-yield paddy-producing organizations shared that cultivating these improved varieties can significantly boost yield while producing delicious grains. Farmers can use the harvest throughout the year and sell surplus produce at fair market prices to earn profits.
These varieties require minimal chemical fertilizers or pesticides, thereby enhancing soil fertility and promoting the use of organic manure. This practice can uplift the livelihoods of small and marginal farmers. In the district, farmer Subash Dhali has successfully cultivated high-yield paddy using seed varieties such as TNH 5786, 2156, and 5527, achieving remarkable results. In recognition of his success, he was honored and awarded by the organization Trimurti Sanstha.
The organization’s director Subodh Kumar, field coordinator Ajit Kumar Biswal, and Ganesh Saha stated that field visits and training on farming techniques will be conducted in various areas of the district in the coming days. More than 100 male and female farmers from across the district participated in the program.
