Nandpur,  1st Nov 2025: In Koraput district’s Nandpur block, the Padia–Shobhaput RD road, which is the only means of transportation for residents of four panchayats—Panthulung, Parja Bardpada, Kularasing, and Golur, is now in danger. The Patali River, near the Jolaput reservoir in Andhra Pradesh, is eroding its banks. Near Gemelput village, about 200 meters of road adjoining the river is collapsing into the river. Large trees along this stretch are also at risk of falling onto the road, which could block the road and cause further damage due to soil erosion.

The residents of the four panchayats are understandably alarmed. They have requested the Nandpur Block administration, Koraput district officials, and Sunabeda RD Division authorities to inspect the road and take urgent remedial measures.

It is noted that the road begins near the Bada Devata temple and crosses the Patali River via a large Bada Devata bridge built during the pre-independence era. This bridge is the main transportation link for the four panchayats. Currently, soil erosion is happening just 500 meters from the bridge, putting the road at risk.

This road is critical for the livelihoods of the four panchayats, as it connects them to Andhra Pradesh. Any disruption on this road would impact daily life and sever connectivity with Andhra Pradesh, the local intellectuals have warned.

Following these concerns, RD Division engineer Jayant Kumar Sahu stated that he would inform the senior divisional officers about the road’s condition and that action will be taken according to their directions.
