The government has warned that beneficiaries who fail to complete e-KYC within three months will be completely removed from the beneficiary list. It was reported earlier that many ineligible or deceased individuals were still receiving rations under the Public Distribution System (PDS), while eligible new individuals were left out.
To make the system more transparent, the new government launched the e-KYC verification process from August 22, 2024. Despite nearly five deadline extensions, those who haven’t completed e-KYC by the end of June are set to be removed. From July, their ration distribution will be stopped, and if e-KYC is not completed within three months, they will be permanently removed from the list.
It has come to light that some individuals with four-wheelers or six-wheelers fear losing rations if they complete e-KYC, so they’ve avoided it. Additionally, elderly, bedridden persons, and children are reportedly facing challenges in completing the e-KYC process.
District Chief Supply Officer Manas Ranjan Mahapatra has appealed to all pending beneficiaries to complete their e-KYC immediately.
