Umarkot,Jan, 06: The Odisha Driver Association, Umarkot block, extended financial assistance today to the family of a deceased driver.
It is noteworthy that on 26th December, Prahlad Gand, 28, from the nearby village of Khutiariguda, was traveling in a pickup vehicle when he met with an accident near Daring Badi around 2 a.m., resulting in his death. Prahlad was a member of the Odisha Driver Association. He is survived by his wife, who is 8 months pregnant.
During this difficult time, members of the Odisha Driver Association helped in transporting the body to Umarkot and provided support to the family. Today, the Umarkot block of the Odisha Driver Association handed ₹70,000 to Prahlad’s wife as financial assistance.
At the time, Sukant Singh, district vice-president of the Odisha Driver Association; Bid Madgool, editor of Umarkot; Bhai Gupt Hial, assistant; Raidhar Harijan, president of Chikalpada Gram Panchayat; Shukadev Harijan, president of Tahar Gram Panchayat; Kamalu Majhi, president of another Gram Panchayat; V. Srinivas Bas Rao, block editor; and Buti Bhatra, treasurer, were present along with members of the Odisha Driver Association. Members from all 24 Gram Panchayats of the block were also in attendance.
