Chilika, Jan, 15:  DPR to Be Prepared for the Restoration of Chilika
Priority will be given to biodiversity conservation and redevelopment of the lake.
The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by Minister Prithviraj Harichandan.
The Chilika Development Authority (CDA) and IIT Chennai have been directed to prepare the Detailed Project Report (DPR).
Due to siltation at the lake mouth, water is not flowing properly into the sea.
Seawater is also not entering Chilika properly.
As a result, the salinity of Chilika water is deteriorating and the ecological balance and biodiversity are being affected
