Umerkote, Tomorrow, the sacred wedding ceremony of Lord Chandrasekhar and Goddess Parvati will take place at Baba Baidyanath Temple in Gulipatana, Umerkote.
For this ceremonial divine wedding, the temple committee selected Shri Ramachandra Panda and Smt. Rashmita Panda of Bhaluguda, Umerkote, as the symbolic parents of the groom (Lord Chandrasekhar/Shiva), and Shri Prashant Kumar Das and Smt. Sujnani Das as the symbolic parents of the bride (Goddess Parvati).
On Sunday afternoon, after rituals at the groom’s residence in Bhaluguda, Lord Chandrasekhar was ceremonially worshipped and taken in a grand procession with drums, traditional music, and in the company of symbolic parents, relatives, and friends to the bride’s residence at Jharigaon Road.
There, all rituals and customs were performed according to Vedic traditions in the presence of family members, relatives, and guests from both sides. After the wedding, a grand feast was organized by the bride’s side for all attendees.
Later, the groom’s party returned home, and a special “Gandhshana” (sacred welcoming ritual) was conducted at Maa Mangala Temple. Ritual bathing of Lord Shiva with turmeric, sandalwood, and fragrant water from the Bhaskel River was also performed.
Tomorrow, the final wedding ceremony will be held at Baba Baidyanath Temple in Gulipatana, where around 4,000 devotees are expected to attend and partake in the Prasad, as informed by the bride’s symbolic father, Prashant Kumar Das.
Members of the temple committee including Bishnu Pattnaik, Nagesh Kumar Pattnaik, Tulu Sahu, Dasharath Gand, Ram Nayak, Jatin Panda, and others were present and helped in organizing this divine event.
