Bhramarakot, 6th Sept 2025: The Annual General Meeting of the District Sports Association was held in the conference hall located on the premises of the District Collector’s office, under the chairmanship of District Collector and President of the District Sports Association, Dr. Maheswar Swain.
During the meeting, Secretary Prahlad Tripathy emphasized the need for collective support from all members of the association as well as former athletes of the district for the development of sports in the region. Dr. Maheswar Swain, who is also the Nabarangpur District Collector and President of the District Sports Association, chaired the meeting and informed that he had visited all the mini stadiums in the district, as well as the indoor stadiums located in the district headquarters subdivision and Umerkote. He assured that all existing issues would be resolved and immediate steps would be taken for the development of stadiums located in Ramini and Raighar.
Vice President of the association, M. Balakrishna Rao, presented the annual report along with the expenditure details of the grants received from the government. It was also highlighted that the Nabarangpur team had emerged as the zonal champion in the under-14 football tournament recently concluded in Ganjam. In recognition of their performance in the Rakta Khela (blood sport) event, participating players were awarded a sum of ₹50,000 by the guests.
At the beginning of the meeting, the association’s women coordinator, E. Chandana Mallik, welcomed the guests with bouquets. At the end of the session, Joint Secretary Manoj Kumar Pattnaik expressed gratitude to all the members and wished for continued cooperation and support.
Among other dignitaries present were Chhatrapati Sahu (District Education Officer), Samir Patra (District Sports Officer), former secretary and director of the volunteer organization Helu Line, and social worker Durga Prasad Mallik. Also present were Helu Line President and Indoor Games Secretary Krishna Prasad Pattnaik, Vice President Tarik Hasan, Joint Secretary Khalid Jilani, Cricket Secretary Ashok Nayak, Volleyball Secretary G. Ananta Murti, Athletics Secretary Jyoti Parichha, and members Rakesh Gupta, Shashank Shekhar Behera, Durjaya Harijan, along with representatives from all blocks of the district.
