District Paraja Community Organizes Awareness Rally

Malkangiri, 21st Nov 2025:  The Malkangiri District Paraja Community Development Council organized a massive rally demanding special recognition for the Paraja tribe among the 62 tribal communities, along with giving priority to the preservation of the Parenga-Paraja language, culture, and traditions. A memorandum in this regard has also been submitted to the Union Minister for Tribal Affairs.

Hundreds of men and women belonging to the Paraja community started the rally from the local bus stand and marched to the District Collector’s office. There they staged a demonstration and submitted a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister, the Union Minister, and the President of India through the District Collector.

The memorandum highlighted various demands such as:

Support for educated unemployed youths to pursue higher education,

Recruitment of language teachers from the same community,

Allocation of 4 cents of land to displaced families,

Introduction of mother-tongue-based education from Class I to Class XII in all schools,

Provision of employment opportunities for local youths.

During the submission of the memorandum, several prominent members of the Paraja Community Development Council were present, including Chairman Ghenu Muduli, Chitrakonda Block Chairperson Rajeshwari Khol, Jodambo Sarpanch Pinki Hantal, Pansaput Sarpanch Arjun Hantal, Youth Council President Chaitanya Khol, Advisor Damburu Shisha, Secretary Gopal Badapalanayak, and Hari Hantal.
