District-Level Youth Red Cross Meet Held at Nabarangpur College

Nabarangpur,13th Aug 2025:  A district-level meeting of the Youth Red Cross was held at Nabarangpur College. Presidents and councillors from 52 higher secondary schools and 19 degree colleges across the district attended. The meeting was chaired by the college principal and district president of the Youth Red Cross, Dr. Gobinda Rao.

Additional District Magistrate Tapan Kumar Khuntia attended as chief guest and urged the councillors to involve the youth in building a healthy and progressive society through social service. Social worker Jagannath Mahapatra, present as a special guest, highlighted the role of the Red Cross in social service and promised to always support the cause of building a healthy society.

Satyaranjan Nayak, Principal of Bidyarthi Science College, and lecturer Ranjan Swain pledged to continue their social service work for another twenty years. On this occasion, the guests launched a district-wide project titled “One Banyan Tree in Every Institution”. Individuals who had independently planted many banyan trees in the district were specially felicitated.

Social worker Jagannath Mahapatra was honoured with a lifetime membership of the Red Cross for his dedicated social service. District convener of the Red Cross, Dillip Kumar Hota, called for intensifying the Red Cross movement. District coordinator Akhil Kumar Bhatt shared information about upcoming Youth Red Cross activities and efforts to strengthen Red Cross presence at the college level.

The entire programme was coordinated by lecturer Shambhu Prasad Hota. Youth councillors Rajani Minj, Nirmala Hikika, and Ashok Patra, along with others, presented the welcome song. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by councillor Sanyukta Nayak.
