District-Level World Tourism Day Quiz Highlights Importance of Nature and Tourism

Nabarangpur, 6th Oct 2025:  World Tourism Day was observed on September 27. The theme for this year was “Tourism and Sustainable Development.” On this occasion, a district-level quiz competition was held at the District Culture Hall in Nabarangpur on Saturday to raise awareness about the importance of tourism and its role in sustainable development.

Manoj Kumar Behera, the District Information Officer (DIPRO) of Nabarangpur, participated as the chief guest. He engaged in discussions with the participants, explaining career and job opportunities in the tourism sector. He also elaborated on how the state government is giving increased importance to this sector.

To highlight the significance of tourism and connecting oneself with nature during holidays, school-level participants also took part in the competition.

The District Tourism Officer Ghasiram Harijan advised on tourism site visits.

The competition was divided into two categories — school and college levels. Students from numerous government and private schools and colleges across the district participated.

At the school level, the quiz was judged by Ranjan Mahapatra, Headmaster of Pujariguda Government High School, and Sushant Sahu, Headmaster of Dangarbheja Government High School.

At the college level, Odia lecturer Lakshmikanta Soura was the judge.

From the school level, three outstanding participants were selected from Techno Gurukul School. Shyam Sundar Yadav secured first place, P. Dhanush came second, and M. Surya Narayan Naidu took third place.

At the college level, Babita Gand from Nabarangpur Nodal Degree College secured first place, Priyanka Mahapatra from Nabarangpur Women’s Higher Secondary School took second place, and Amisha Bhatt from Nabarangpur Women’s Degree College secured third place.

The chief guest awarded certificates and cash prizes to all the winners.

The program was managed by Junior Assistant Niranjan Nayak from the Tourism Office, Junior Assistant Atmaprakash Sahu from the District Culture Office, and A. Santosh Kumar, among others who helped organize the event.
