Nabarangpur, 3rd Oct 2025: World Tourism Day is celebrated globally on September 27 every year. This year, the theme is “Tourism and Sustainable Development.” As part of the observance, a quiz competition was organized at the district level.
The competition was conducted in two categories: school level and college level. Many government and private schools and colleges from the district participated enthusiastically to raise awareness about the importance of tourism and its role in sustainable development.
The quiz event was held at the District Cultural Forest Hall in Nabarangpur. Students from various schools and colleges took part with great enthusiasm.
At the school level, the competition was overseen by:
- Ranjan Kumar Mahapatra, Head Teacher of Pujariguda Government High School,
- Sushant Kumar Sahu, Head Teacher of Dangarbheja Government High School.
- At the college level, the quiz was conducted under the supervision of:
- Odia Lecturer Laxmikanta Soura.
The program’s chief guest was Manoj Kumar Behera, District Information and Public Relations Officer of Nabarangpur. He interacted with the participants and explained career and job opportunities in the tourism sector. He also detailed how the state government is giving special importance to tourism.
Winners at the school level:
- 1st: Shyam Sundar Yadav, Techno Gurukul School
- 2nd: P. Dhanuṣ, Techno Gurukul School
- 3rd: M. Surya Narayan Naidu, Techno Gurukul School
Winners at the college level:
- 1st: Babita Gand, Nabarangpur Nodal Degree College
- 2nd: Priyanka Mahapatra, Women’s Higher Secondary School, Nabarangpur
- 3rd: Amisha Bhatt, Women’s Degree College, Nabarangpur
At the end, District Tourism Officer Ghasiram Harijan highlighted the importance of tourism and encouraged everyone to visit various tourist destinations during holidays to connect with nature.
All winners were honored with certificates and cash prizes by the chief guest. The event was supported by the Junior Assistant of the Tourism Office, Niranjan Nayak; Junior Assistant of the District Culture Office, Atmaprakash Sahu; and A. Santosh Kumar.
