Umerkote, Jan 31: A district-level workshop of “VBG Ram G” was held at the BJP office in Umerkote of Nabarangpur district. “VBG Ram G” stands for Viksit Bharat Guarantee Rozgar Mission – Gramin (Developed India Guaranteed Rural Employment Mission).
Earlier, during the previous government, this scheme was known as MGNREGA. It was reportedly affected by long-term corruption and structural shortcomings. Acknowledging these structural failures, the present Central Government has redefined rural employment and implemented the scheme under a new framework titled “Viksit Bharat 2025.”
The mission aims to provide dignified employment to every poor individual, increase the guaranteed employment days from 100 to 125 days, ensure payment of wages within 7 days, and prevent work stoppage during implementation, with a maximum limit of 60 days in certain circumstances.
Under this scheme, the Viksit Gram Panchayat Yojana will be implemented to accelerate rural development from the grassroots level. The mission will be integrated with PM Gati Shakti. The funding pattern will be 60% contribution from the Centre and 40% from the State, while for Northeastern states it will be 90% Central assistance.
Developing Gram Panchayats is seen as a key means to build a Developed India. Training was provided to BJP leaders and grassroots functionaries who are leading rural initiatives.
The workshop was attended by District President Kunj Bihari Das, District General Secretaries Suresh Acharya and Jyoti Ranjan Kansa, VBG Ram G team Dabugaon Coordinator Lingaraj Bhatra, Umerkote Coordinator Bhojanath Gond, Jharigaon Coordinator Chandra Bhanu Nayak, Umerkote Nagar Mandal President Santosh Sharma, General Secretary Prabhat Kumar Nayak, along with several BJP workers.
