District-Level Skill Development Meeting Convened in Nabarangpur

Nabarangpur, 1st Aug 2025:  A meeting of the District Skill Development Mission and District Skill Committee was conducted today at the Mission Shakti Conference Hall under the chairmanship of District Collector Dr. Subhankar Mohapatra.

Prominent officials present included:

  • Additional District Magistrate Tapan Kumar Khuntia
  • Chief Development Officer, Zilla Parishad, Biranchi Narayan Darobhan
  • Project Administrator for SC/ST Development Rajiv Lochan Sahu
  • District Employment and Skill Development Officer Anand Palei

Key Discussions and Training Initiatives:

Officer Anand Palei presented proposals through a PowerPoint presentation for various skill development trainings, including:

  • Skill Academy programs
  • Pest control and food preparation services via ADA University
  • Battery system repair technician training
  • Mushroom cultivation and organic farming training for jail inmates
  • Jute bag making training for residents of Shakti Sadan via Gayatri Education & Charitable Trust
  • DTP, flex printing training through Data Pro Computer
  • Home appliance repairs (mixers, grinders, irons) by Enotech Tech Solutions
  • Also, employment opportunities were discussed for:
  • ITI passouts in automobile trades with recruitment for Volvo bus repairs
  • Electrical trade youths placed as line men and technicians in TPS and DL departments
  • The Collector emphasized focused attention on these job linkages and training efforts.

Focus on 18–35 Age Group:

The committee also reviewed:

  • Progress of Nano Unicorn, PM-Internship, Job Fairs (PLTP), and other skill and employment schemes under the “New Odisha” vision
  • Five Project Implementing Agencies shared updates, including one offering Electric Vehicle Technician Training

Special Focus Areas Suggested by Collector:

The Collector suggested more training for youths in repairing:

  • Air conditioners (HVAC)
  • LED TVs
  • Computers and laptops
  • Generators
  • Agricultural pumps and tube wells
  • In the current year:
  • 570 trainees will be trained under ITI trades
  • 120 under independent skill training programs

  • DCPU Suresh Pattnaik
  • Along with various departmental officers
