Nabarangpur, 11th Oct 2025: : Under the directive of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, the “Seba Parva” is being celebrated across the country from September 17 to October 2. Similarly, in Odisha, the Department of Odia Language, Literature, and Culture of the Odisha Government is organizing district-level painting competitions in every district. These competitions involve schools, colleges, and professional painters.
In this context, the District Culture Department, Nabarangpur organized the district-level painting competition at the local Nabarangpur Nodal Degree College, involving college students and professional painters. The competition saw participation from various colleges in the district, with students and professional painters showing their interest.
The theme for this competition was “Developed India 2047.” Participating painters created very beautiful and relevant paintings based on this theme. The competition and event were praised by the chief guest, District Collector Tapan Kumar Khuntia.
The jury for this competition included senior retired art teachers Mr. Parshuram Sahu and art teacher Pavitra Dutta, who evaluated three paintings each at the college and professional levels, awarding first, second, and third prizes respectively.
At the college level, Jagannath Bhatra, a second-year +3 student of Kosaga Muda Government College, won first place; Mahadev Nayak from Gurukrupa College, Rayagada secured second place; and Rajendra Bhatra from Nabarangpur College won third place.
At the professional level, Mr. Anantram Gond from Umarkot took first place; Gouranga Charan Bidika from Nabarangpur won second place; and Mandal from Umarkot secured third place.
All the winners were awarded certificates by the chief guest. The first, second, and third prize-winning paintings from the three categories will be displayed and judged again at the state-level painting competition on September 25, 2025, in Bhubaneswar.
The state-level competition will include exhibition and evaluation, and financial awards will be given to the successful participants. The event was organized under the supervision of District Culture Officer Ghasiram Harijan.
Guests included Nabarangpur College President of the program, Govinda Rao; teachers Shri Dillip Hota, Sampu Prasad Hota, Engineer Chandana Mallik; and officials from the district office, including Atmaprakash Sahu, A. Santosh Kumar, and other teachers from Nabarangpur College who cooperated in the event.
