Jeypore, Dec, 13:  A meeting of the district-level millets (mandia/ragi) procurement committee was held at the Sadbhavana Conference Hall. It has been decided that 2,41,000 quintals of millets will be procured this year. The meeting, chaired by Koraput District Collector Manoj Satyavan Mahajan, discussed that millet procurement will take place in 45 mandis across 12 blocks of the district.

A total of 12,823 farmers have registered for the process this year. It was decided that farmers will be paid ₹4,847.06 per quintal for their produce.

It was further decided that 2,41,000 quintals of millets will be collected in Koraput district this year. Similarly, pulses such as moong and biri, cultivated over 12,200 hectares in the district, will also be procured. The procurement price for these pulses has been fixed at ₹8,000 per quintal, officials informed.

To ensure smooth functioning in the procurement mandis, the District Collector instructed that basic facilities such as drinking water, toilets, and rest sheds must be arranged for farmers.

MP representative Manoj Acharya, along with all officials and farmers, attended the meeting.
