Jeypore, Dec, 12: A meeting of the District-Level Mandia (Finger Millet) Purchase Committee was held at the local Sadbhavana Sabha Bhawan. It was decided that 2,41,000 quintals of mandia will be procured this year in Koraput.
The meeting, chaired by District Collector Manoj Satyavan Mahajan, decided that mandia will be procured from 45 mandis across 12 blocks of the district. About 12,823 farmers have been registered for this purpose. Farmers will be paid Rs4,847 per quintal for their mandia.
It was also decided that this year the district will collect a total of 2,41,000 quintals of mandia. Additionally, mandia will be purchased from 12,200 hectares of land where pulses such as moong and other pulses are grown, at a rate of ₹8,000 per quintal.
The District Collector has ensured that basic facilities like drinking water, sanitation, and rest areas will be provided for farmers at the mandis. Member of Parliament representative Manoj Acha, along with all officials and farmers, attended the meeting.
