Malkangiri, Jan, 17:   The three-day district-level Junior Red Cross (JRC) camp of Malkangiri was inaugurated at Kalimela High School. The objective of the camp is to develop leadership qualities, coordination, and a sense of social responsibility among students.

The inaugural ceremony was organised under the chairmanship of District Education Officer Chittaranjan Panigrahi. Malkangiri MLA Narsingh Madkami attended the event as the chief guest and addressed the gathering. Among the other dignitaries present on the dais were Block Chairperson Subhashini Sodi, former MLA Mukund Sodi, Kalimela Block Development Officer Pradeep Kumar Kar, former YRC District Officer Dr. Ranjan Kumar Swain, Cluster Education Officer Ramesh Baroi, and others.

Around 400 students from various schools located in 111 gram panchayats participated in the camp. The successful organisation of the programme was supported by Additional District Education Officer Bhagirathi Behera, in-charge Physical Education Teacher Kartik Chandra Behera, Niranjan Maharana (JRC Officer, Malkangiri), Pramod Baroi (Headmaster), along with other teachers and staff of the school.

During the three-day camp, students will receive training in first aid, blood donation awareness, disaster management, environmental protection, voluntary labour (shramdaan), health, and cleanliness, among other topics.
