Koraput, 30th Oct 2025, The local festival ‘Parab’ will begin on November 12 at the Kutunipada Shiva Temple in Lakshmipur block. The festival will be celebrated in all panchayats of the district from November 13 to 23, and the block and urban-level Parab will be observed from November 24 to December 4. The district-level festival will take place from December 18 to 22 at the local Sadbhavana Sabha Griha, as decided in a preparatory meeting.
In the meeting chaired by District Collector Manoj Satyavan Mahajan, it was decided that the district-level festival will include Pallishree (rural excellence) awards, food fairs, and a new flower exhibition. Competitions at the panchayat, block, and district levels will continue until December 6.
For smooth management of the festival, committees will be formed to oversee cleanliness, drinking water supply, festival honors, electricity, transportation, and security. The District Collector emphasized the importance of proper management.
The festival will feature light displays and flower exhibitions showcasing Koraput’s pride: Mirgan Sadhai, tribal ornaments, oil production from lemongrass, and bamboo crafts.
From November 13, panchayat-level and from November 24, block-level celebrations will include exhibitions of various handicrafts, Koraput coffee production, and other local products.
The preparatory meeting was attended by MLA of Koraput Raghuram Mach, Pattangi MLA Ramchandra Kadam, Lakshmipur MLA Pavitra Saunta, IAS probationer Santosh Kumar Patra, District Council Chairperson Sasmita Meleka, Koraput Municipal Chairperson Lalat Ranjan Sethi, SP Rohit Verma, District Development Officer Benu Dhar Shabar, Sub-Collector Prem Lal Hial, ITDA PI Snehprabha Majhi, DWO Sunil Tandi, Koraput Tahsildar Shayadi Sabir Saha, BDO Debashish Goud, MP representative Manoj Acharya, and other officials and intellectuals, who shared their suggestions.
Koraput District Cultural Officer Surya Kant Behera conducted the meeting and extended thanks to all participants.
