Nabarangpur,8th Oct 2025: Under the auspices of the Nabarangpur District Panchayati Raj and Administration, the Drinking Water Department and Forest & Environment Department, the district-level “Ek Ped Ma Ke Naam 2.0” tree plantation campaign was organized at the District Collector’s office premises. In this successful event, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) Balbhadra Majhi participated as the chief guest and planted saplings, encouraging others to do the same.
Among the dignitaries present were Honorable MLA Yak Navarang Putra Gauri Shankar Majhi, District Collector Dr. Maheswar Swain, Superintendent of Police Malakar Sandeep, Additional District Collector Tapan Kumar Guntia, Chief Development Officer of District Council Biranchi Narayan Darowan, Executive Officer Shubendra Kumar Behera, various departmental officials, and employees of the District Collector’s
office.
The plantation target for the campaign in Nabarangpur district has been set at 2,63,210 saplings. Everyone was requested to successfully complete this one-day massive plantation drive and upload a photo on the ‘Mein Meri Life’ portal.
MP Balbhadra Majhi emphasized the urgent need to protect the currently deteriorating environment by promoting a healthy and green environment. He called the campaign an effort to commemorate the honorable Prime Minister’s 75th birthday and to realize the dream of a green and beautiful Earth.
Following this, the chief guest and others visited the nearby medicinal garden of the forest department and planted tree saplings. On this occasion, the MP also inaugurated and donated blood at a blood donation camp organized by the Terapans Sub-Council near Shiridi Sai Temple.
He also participated in the “Sugadha Nari Sashakta Parivar” campaign starting at the CHC, Daku Gaon.
Today, across the district, tree saplings were planted collectively in all panchayats, villages, educational institutions, blocks, and municipalities. The event saw participation from district council members, panchayat committee members, sarpanches, college and school teachers, students, Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers, self-help groups, forest committees, government employees, voluntary organizations, and the general public.
In an unprecedented joyous ceremony, everyone planted saplings enthusiastically, aiming to maintain a green, beautiful, and healthy environment.
To date, a total of 3,48,121 saplings have been planted across 18,440 identified plantation sites in the district. This record-setting achievement is the result of 132 months of ongoing activities. The officials, employees, individuals, and organizations involved were thanked for their dedication and success.
