Nabarangpur: 30th Oct 2025, In preparation for the upcoming cyclone, the District Collector held a press conference to provide information. A preparatory meeting was organized under the chairmanship of the District Collector at the Local Mission Shakti Hall, with all district-level departmental officials present. The meeting discussed measures to mitigate potential damage to Nabarangpur district, which has been placed under a Red Warning on the 29th and 30th due to the cyclone.
During the meeting, discussions were held to take all necessary precautionary measures. The District Collector informed the press that the district has 10 cyclone shelters, and each block has 10 temporary shelters ready to accommodate people from areas likely to be affected. Arrangements for food and lodging at these shelters have been finalized.
The Collector also mentioned that sufficient dry food is available across the district. Each of the 10 blocks has 10 fire brigade units on standby, and an additional ODRAF team is coming from Balangir.
It was noted that 302 pregnant women have been identified in the district, and so far 140 have been relocated to various maternity homes and hospitals. The remaining women will also be relocated as necessary.
In Tentulikhunti and Koshagumuda blocks, where flooding is likely, the administration has taken precautionary measures. There are concerns about potential damage due to rain on diversion roads between Nabarangpur and Umarakot, so JCBs and other machinery from the Bharat Mala road project have been deployed and kept ready.
All ambulances and medical teams in the district are on 24-hour alert. The administration has ensured extensive preparedness to minimize damage during the cyclone.
