Kakatpur: Vishnu Charan Behura, the Secretary of Dhanitri Seva Cooperative Society under Kaduanuagan Panchayat in Kakatpur Block, has been suspended due to allegations of irregularities in paddy procurement. As per reports, the Puri District Collector suspended him on Monday following complaints from farmers.
Earlier, farmers like Shankar Bhuyan, Ghanashyam Behera, Nrusingha Behera, Sudarshan Behera, and Bijay Panda had formally lodged written complaints with the District Collector regarding Behura’s misconduct. After an investigation, the Collector confirmed the allegations and ordered his suspension.
New Interim Secretary Appointed
In Behura’s place, Kaibalya Senapati has been given additional charge as the new acting Secretary of the cooperative society.
Previous Allegations Against Behura
This is not the first time Behura has faced disciplinary action. Previously, he was suspended for misappropriating farmers’ insurance money and using fraudulent sorting fees to exploit farmers.
Farmers Demand Lifetime Expulsion
Due to repeated complaints against him, farmers are now demanding his permanent expulsion from the cooperative society.
