Pampala, Dec, 03:A seven-day Bhagavata festival was celebrated at the Samadhi Madhupitha of Shri Shri Mahapurusha Gopal Das in Nadia Sahaspur village, Pansapu Panchayat, Mahanga Block. The festival began with a grand mela (gathering) and spiritual events on Tuesday night.
Organized by the Shri Shri Gopal Das Bhagavata Mela Committee, the festival featured Shri Jagannath idols along with Bhagavata scriptures brought from Sahaspur, Patarajpur, and Nadia Sahaspur villages. The idols were installed on the ceremonial Vimana and remained there for seven days, allowing devotees to offer their prayers and seek blessings.
During the event, Pandit Ajit Kumar Pradhan from Puri Pipili delivered spiritual discourses for two days. Additionally, the senior folk singer, ‘Gayak Samrat’ Lakshmidhar Raut, along with fellow artists, performed Pala music and storytelling for two days. Every evening, devotional bhajan and kirtan sessions were organized, attracting thousands of devotees for evening aarti.
Throughout the seven-day festival, hundreds of devotees from nearby villages and surrounding areas attended. Local villagers mentioned that such spiritual events have been held here for over two hundred years, preserving a long-standing tradition of faith and devotion in the region.
