Chhatia, Devotees from various regions participated in Harinam Sankirtan, deeply engrossed in the devotional chanting. Hundreds of spiritually devoted individuals observed their vows by lying prostrate on the village roads.
It is believed that in Chhatia Patana village, under the Badachana block, a continuous 24-hour Sankirtan festival has been held for five days. This sacred event has been conducted in the village for the past 68 years. On the previous Wednesday, devotees performed a religious ritual where Lord Mahaprabhu was carried in a ceremonial palanquin and taken around the village. This was followed by a grand procession carrying sacred water pots (Kalasha Shobhayatra), marking the completion of the event.
Each year, the number of devotees attending the event has been increasing. The spiritual atmosphere was further enhanced with the commencement of Girish Patra’s residential arrangements. Devotees took responsibility for organizing the event.
As part of the celebrations, 89 Sankirtan groups from Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, and Puri participated in the event. These groups were honored for their contribution. The villagers actively coordinated the entire program, ensuring its smooth execution.
The tradition of Harinam Sankirtan continues with great enthusiasm, drawing more devotees every year.
