Puri, All development activities have come to a standstill in the Rengali Assembly constituency. Rengali MLA Sudarshan Haripal has alleged that the district administration has remained a silent spectator to this issue. On Tuesday morning, he met District Collector Siddheshwar Baliram Bondre and demanded that approved projects in Dhanakauda Zone-2 of the constituency — including in the panchayats of Kalamati, Kardola, Basantpur, and Kud Gunderapur — be started immediately, despite funds having already been sanctioned. He also submitted a memorandum to the Collector regarding this matter.
MLA Haripal stated that for the past 10 months, development work in the Rengali Assembly constituency has been deliberately stalled. He alleged that under pressure from some unseen forces, the district administration and various departmental officials have failed to commence work on the approved projects.
The Rengali MLA presented the memorandum directly to the Collector. Despite projects being approved under schemes from the previous government such as the Chief Minister’s Special Assistance (CMSA), Ama Odisha Nabin Odisha, and others at the Zilla Parishad level, construction work had promptly begun and even completed in Surukhur and other places.
However, under the current government, no such development activities have taken place in the Rengali constituency. In the last Zilla Parishad meeting, he had personally brought this issue to the attention of both the Collector and Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Minister Rabi Narayan Naik. The Minister and Collector had assured that the pending projects in the region would commence soon.
But to date, no work has been initiated, according to the MLA’s complaint. Following discussions, the Collector had instructed the Rengali and Dhanakauda development officers to immediately begin work on the stalled projects.
MLA Haripal was accompanied by Kud Gunderapur Sarpanch Mrutyunjay Purohit, Samiti Member Bishwamittra Pati, Kardola Sarpanch Gorekha Raut, Samiti Member Rina Seth, Basantpur Samiti Member Balaram Pradhan, Dhanakauda Block Chairperson Pushpanjali Behera, senior BJD leaders Sudip Behera, Debashis Panda, Golaka Debata, and Jitendra Mishra.
