Malkangiri: A Developed Agriculture Sankalp Campaign was organized on Tuesday for farmers at MV-18 of Sikhapalli Panchayat and Boilapalli of Padmagiri Panchayat under Malkangiri Sadar Block by the District Agriculture Department’s Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK).
The campaign focused on leading farmers and women agriculturists, where the campaigners briefed the attendees about modern agricultural methods. With the Kharif season set to begin in the next seven days, farmers were educated on paddy cultivation techniques, procedures, and systems suitable for the season.
They were also guided on preparation before the monsoon, including soil treatment, application of different types of fertilizers and seeds, and land preparation. Farmers participating in the paddy program were informed about transplantation techniques, field readiness, and overall planning.
Several farmers raised complaints about not receiving seeds and fertilizers on time. Addressing this, the District Agriculture Officer took serious note and assured that in the coming days, no farmer would face such difficulties, and timely distribution of inputs like fertilizers and seeds would be ensured.
The event was attended by agricultural scientist Dr. Siddharth Kar from KVK, Dr. Chinmaya Sahu from the Animal Husbandry Department, horticulture officer Balita Hantal, agriculture officer Firoz Bidika, Takada Tudu, Jharana Mandal, Zilla Parishad member Somanath Madkami, and others.
At Boilapalli, Malkangiri Block Chairperson Gouri Padhiami, Padmagiri Sarpanch Sunadhar Madkami, Pramod Panda, Meenakshi Rao, Anita Pattnaik, and Sachita Majhi, along with officials from the agriculture department, were present.
