Nabarangpur, Dec, 15:  The issue of demand for district VIVIK appointments has resurfaced in Nabarangpur. Last year, at the Mandai stage, the Chief Minister had announced that the matter of district VIVIK appointments would be considered. However, as the promise has not been fulfilled till now, the District Joint Action Committee has decided to launch a protest.

The committee has decided to hold a peaceful demonstration on the 14th near the Mandai stage at Hirli in Nabarangpur town. This decision was announced today at a press conference held under the leadership of convenor Rajesh Yani.

It may be recalled that last year, the District Unemployed Youth Association had carried out an agitation for 56 days demanding district VIVIK appointments and staged a protest sit-in in front of the District Collector’s office. In 2024, during the district-level Mandai Festival, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi, who attended as a guest, held discussions with the protesting agitators and acknowledged the genuineness of their demand. He had announced from the Mandai stage that district VIVIK appointments would be made very soon.

Welcoming the Chief Minister’s announcement, the protesting youth withdrew their 56-day-long agitation. However, even after a year since the Chief Minister’s announcement, the promise has not been fulfilled. As a result, the committee has stated in the press conference that it has been compelled to decide on a protest.

On the 14th, during the evening of the Mandai cultural festival program, thousands of unemployed youths will gather at the Mandai ground to stage a peaceful and disciplined protest. The District Joint Action Committee has called upon unemployed youths to participate in large numbers and make the protest a success.
