Brahmapur, 7th Oct 2025: The Ganjam district BJD has launched a scathing attack on the state BJP government, raising serious concerns about corruption in the recent SI (Sub-Inspector) recruitment, along with other issues like fertilizer shortage and black marketing.
At a press conference held on Saturday at the Gajapati Nagar district office, district BJD president Bikram Kumar Panda criticized the state government for its inaction and failure. He stated that there is an acute shortage of fertilizer in the district. Farmers are forced to protest on the streets as they are unable to obtain fertilizers. Even after waiting all day in front of PACS outlets, many farmers fail to get even a single packet of fertilizer, Panda alleged.
While the state government claims there is no shortage, the reality is quite different, he added. He demanded the government ensure adequate supply of fertilizers.
Panda also raised serious allegations about irregularities in the SI recruitment exam, alleging the involvement of BJP leaders. He claimed that a photo of the main accused Shankar Prusty with the Chief Minister and other BJP leaders has gone viral.
He warned that if a proper investigation is not initiated immediately, the BJD will launch a major protest on the 6th of this month.
In a related issue, he mentioned that three people recently drowned in the Bahuda river in Chikiti block. The victims reportedly died due to excessive and illegal sand mining from the river, which altered the flow and depth of the water.
He also stated that illegal sand mining has been rampant in recent months, and demanded the immediate resignation of the departmental minister responsible.
During the event, newly appointed BJD IT Cell and Social Media Cell officials were introduced.
Several leaders were present, including:
- Former MLA Ramesh Chandra Chaupatnaik
- Subash Behera
- Purnachandra Swaain
- BJD State General Secretary Ranjita Sahu
- Srirup Deo Chitrayananda
- District Council Vice-President Rajeshwari Dora
- Subash Maharana
- And other party workers and officials.
