Nandapur, 8th Oct 2025: In Koraput district, under the jurisdiction of Padua police station in Nandapur block, in the village of Banjalaput, on Friday, a gas cylinder exploded seriously injuring a father-in-law and daughter-in-law.
According to reports, Balaram Durua and his daughter-in-law Buduri Durua were affected. On Thursday night, after cooking, Balaram and his wife forgot to turn off the gas regulator of the cylinder. On Friday morning, when daughter-in-law Buduri went to light the stove, the cylinder exploded.
Due to the explosion, Balaram’s house roof was blown off.
Buduri and Balaram, who was near the kitchen, were both seriously injured. The asbestos roof of the house was completely damaged by the blast impact. The seriously injured were first taken to Nandapur Community Health Centre and then shifted to Koraput Shaheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital. The impact of the explosion was somewhat reduced due to the asbestos roof flying off. Medical treatment has been prioritized.
Under the direction of Padua police station officer Ashok Bishoi, SI Deepak Barik has reached the accident site. The police have informed that after the family members return, an investigation into the incident will be conducted.
