Cyclone Montha Causes Damage in Various Parts of Koraput District

Jeypore,31st Oct 2025: Cyclone Montha has caused some damage in the border areas of Koraput district. In particular, areas like Narayanapatna, Bandhugaon, Pattangi, and Nandapur have experienced fallen trees on roads and damage to houses. The fire department and ODRAF teams have cut and removed the fallen trees from the roads.

Although there has been no large-scale destruction in the district, people remain fearful. This morning, officials visited the affected areas to assess the damage. The district recorded 331 mm of rainfall, while Pattangi recorded 89 mm, Lakshmipur 55 mm, Narayanapatna 54 mm, and Bandhugaon 41 mm of rainfall.

Considering the cyclone, 615 people were relocated to cyclone shelters. Similarly, 332 pregnant women were kept safe in mother-care homes and other protective facilities. In the district, 139 houses were damaged, and 9.7 hectares of agricultural land were destroyed. Additional assistance will be provided after the damage assessment, said District Collector Tapan Kumar Nayak.
