Nabarangpur, 30th Oct 2025, A cyber security awareness rally was organized from Sadashiv Park to Police Padia in Nabarangpur town to spread awareness about online fraud and digital safety. The rally was organized by the District Police Department and was flagged off by District Collector Dr. Maheshwar Swain and Superintendent of Police (SP) Madkar Sandeep Sampat.
Students from Nabarangpur College, Smart Gurukul, Women’s College, and representatives from various institutions participated enthusiastically in the rally.
The awareness campaign focused on different types of cyber frauds such as —
Fake identity-based online and OTP frauds,
E-commerce refund scams,
Job offer scams,
Fake instant loan apps,
Parcel scams,
Online trading and digital arrest frauds.
The rally was conducted as per the state government’s directive to raise public awareness, as many people are falling victim to cyber fraud and losing their hard-earned money.
Among the participants were Additional District Magistrate Tapan Kumar Khuntia, Deputy Collector Prakash Kumar Mishra, Additional SP Aditya Kumar Sen, IIC (In-Charge Inspector) of Nabarangpur Police Station Sambit Behera, District Information & Public Relations Officer Manoj Behera, various police officials, and numerous students.
During the march, the Collector and SP personally distributed leaflets to roadside vendors and members of the public, explaining important cyber safety measures — such as not sharing OTPs or PIN numbers, using strong passwords, avoiding suspicious links, being cautious on social media, and practicing safe online shopping.
Participants also carried placards with safety slogans and messages promoting cyber awareness. The officials emphasized that in case of any financial fraud, victims should immediately call the Cyber Helpline 1930 within one hour to report the incident and seek help.
