Jharsuguda , Nov 29: With the support of Odisha Police and Jharsuguda Police, Laikera Police Station organized a cyber awareness rally today through the Cyber Awareness Chariot. Under the leadership of IIC Dilip Behera, Inspector Bandana Nayak from the Jharsuguda Cyber Cell also participated.
Hundreds of students from OPMP Girls’ High School, Odia Pali, conscious citizens of Laikera village, sarpanches and samiti members of various panchayats, SHG women, journalists, and advocates joined a massive rally that started from the Laikera Police Station premises, moved up to Gopal Chhak, and then proceeded via Laikera Jagannath Temple, touring the village before returning to the police station.
A meeting was held at the police station premises where Inspector Bandana Nayak addressed the gathering about the increasing criminal activities occurring online.
On this occasion, winners of the essay and speech competitions held earlier on the occasion of National Unity Day—students of OPMP Girls’ High School, Odia Pali—were awarded by the guests.
Those present included Inspector Shiva Ranavida, Sub-Inspectors Lakshmi Priya Mallik, Bhupal Chandra Behera, Manoj Behera, and many others: Ramuranjan Mishra, Ramesh Mehena, Dayakaran Agrawal, Arjun Meher, Dilip Behera, Ganda Ram Behera, Saubhagya Patel, Bairagi Patel, Karshik Behera, along with hundreds of local residents.
IIC Mr. Behera explained in detail various issues affecting society today, such as:
- cyber crime
- digital arrest scams
- online gaming addiction
- online loan fraud
- online gambling and betting
- blind beliefs and superstition
- child marriage
- addiction and substance abuse
- violence against women
He also informed the public about new laws, including the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, and the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita.
Officers from Sahaspur and Bagdihi outposts, all staff of Laikera Police Station, and journalists Bharat Patra, Debendra Behera, Ranjan Meher, Chiranjeevi Agrawal, Ajay Sharma, Kunj Bihari Patel, Dileswar Bag contributed to the programme.
Aniruddha Jayapuriya, a member of the Sambad Sahitya Ghar, also raised awareness on cyber crime through poetry.
