Curfew Lifted in Cuttack; Internet Services Restored, Normalcy Returns

Cuttack, 9th Oct 2025:  Following unrest during a Durga idol immersion procession due to group clashes, the 36-hour curfew imposed in Cuttack has now been lifted. Since Tuesday evening, the city has cautiously started returning to normalcy. After two days of confinement, residents have stepped out of their homes. Gradually, peace is being restored in the city.

Meanwhile, in connection with the clashes during the procession, police have arrested 22 individuals so far. Internet services, which had been suspended during the unrest, have now been restored.

Tight Patrolling; 22 Arrested

Strict surveillance on social media is ongoing.

After the curfew was lifted, crowds were observed in areas like Chhatra Bazar and Malgodown across the city.

In Buxi Bazaar, police have directed that 40% of shops remain closed.

Shops from Dargha Bazar to Chaudhury Bazar have been ordered to remain completely shut.

Shopkeepers have been instructed to close their businesses between 9 PM to 10 PM.

In addition, areas like Dargha Bazar Police Station and other sensitive locations in the city have been brought under tight police security and surveillance.
