Nabarangpur, Dec, 17: A vibrant display of tribal culture and tradition was witnessed today at the Nabarangpur Sanskruti Bhavan. In the run-up to the upcoming Mandai 2025 grand festival, district-level folk song and traditional costume competitions were organized.
This one-day event, held from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, featured 12 participants in the folk song competition, who beautifully presented indigenous tribal songs such as “Gitkudia Gitkudiani.” In the traditional costume competition, 10 participants showcased attractive “Desia” tribal attire.
Renowned district artists Debadas Hankud, Bhatra, and Narsingh Singh Tripathy joined as judges and evaluated the performances.
In the traditional costume competition, Sasmita Bhatra of Nabarangpur secured first place, Arati Gand second place, and Bindiya Maha Behera third place. In the folk song competition, Radha Dhakad Kad won first place, Damodar Panaka second place, and Damai Bhatra third place.
It has been decided that all six winners will be felicitated on the main stage of the Mandai grand festival. The program was organized by the District Culture Office, which also encouraged all participants to continue contributing to the promotion of cultural heritage.
