Malkangiri, Jan, 08: A joint coordination meeting of the Health and ICDS (Integrated Child Development Services) departments was held under the chairmanship of District Collector Somesh Kumar Upadhyay, with the aim of bringing improvements in maternal and child health and nutrition in the district.

The meeting emphasized the health check-ups of pregnant and postpartum women, as well as the care of newborns. The District Collector gave directions to focus on nutrition and anemia eradication, successful implementation of Village Health and Nutrition Days at the village level, and identification of mothers and children in remote villages. He also stressed ensuring that vaccination and healthcare services reach the beneficiaries in those areas.

The District Collector instructed all departmental officers to prepare joint micro-plans and conduct regular field visits to ensure that quality medical care reaches the people.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from the District Health Department, National Health Mission, Women and Child Development Department, medical officers, and CDPOs (Child Development Project Officers).
