Controversy Erupts Over OTET Examination

Bhubaneswar, 18th Sept 2025:  A controversy has arisen concerning the upcoming OTET (Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test), especially over whether teachers should attend school or appear for the exam on the scheduled day.

The independent OTET exam is scheduled to be held on September 27.

Due to frequent changes in exam dates caused by question paper leaks and absence of proper officials in the Board, the date has now been finally fixed as September 27.

However, September 27 is a Saturday and also a working day in schools.

This has created confusion over whether teachers should go to school to teach or appear for the exam.

Nearly 75,000 primary teachers are expected to appear for the OTET exam.

The Primary Teachers’ Association has demanded that the exam be held on Sunday, September 28, instead of Saturday, to avoid disruption of teaching activities and confusion.
