Consumers Invited to Share Feedback on Power Supply Services

Bhubaneswar, 22nd July 2025: Consumers in Odisha will now have a say on the quality of electricity services. For the first time, the Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC) has taken this significant decision. This initiative comes in response to numerous complaints regarding the performance and infrastructure of electricity distribution companies.

OERC’s Landmark Decision on Public Participation

Through a general public notice issued on July 18, the OERC has invited feedback from consumers across the state regarding the standards of electricity service. This applies to all one crore consumers in Odisha, and they have been given about one month to submit their opinions.

Consumers can submit their written feedback directly to OERC by August 16. The feedback may include:

The quality of electricity supply in their area,

The frequency and duration of power cuts in a typical month,

The voltage condition,

The distance and condition of nearby transformers, poles, and power lines,

The age and maintenance of electrical infrastructure,

The responsiveness of the local electricity section office to complaints,

Instances where charges are being collected under categories other than electricity bills,

Whether bills are being delivered on time,

Any issues with meters, and

The behavior and integrity of electricity department employees.

This initiative aims to involve citizens in improving electricity services and ensuring accountability in the power sector.
