Ahmedabad,: The Indian National Congress is set to undergo significant organizational changes. AICC General Secretary K.C. Venugopal shared this information on Tuesday. A two-day extended Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting along with the 84th AICC Plenary Session is being held on the banks of the Sabarmati River in Ahmedabad.
Senior Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Mallikarjun Kharge are attending the meeting.
This marks the first national conference of the AICC in Gujarat in 64 years. Key topics discussed include the party’s future strategy, major national issues, internal restructuring, and preparations for the upcoming elections.
The CWC meeting commenced today at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Memorial in Ahmedabad, with Congress leaders from across the country participating.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Lok Sabha opposition leader Rahul Gandhi, and other senior Congress leaders are in attendance.
Venugopal stated that the Congress is dedicating this year entirely to organizational restructuring. He confirmed that major structural changes will take place within the party and guidelines will be issued regarding the same. A proposal has already been adopted by the CWC which says, “The party will move forward on the path shown by Sardar Patel.” He added that the year 2025 is dedicated to strengthening party workers.
Chidambaram Faints Due to Heat
Ahmedabad, 8/4: Senior Congress leader and former Finance Minister P. Chidambaram attended the 84th AICC session and extended CWC meeting in Ahmedabad. Later, during a prayer gathering at the Sabarmati Ashram, he fainted due to extreme heat. Party workers immediately admitted him to a hospital.
According to information shared by his son and MP Karti Chidambaram on social media, Chidambaram is currently at Zydus Hospital and his condition is stable.
