Cold Wave Likely to Intensify Across the State from November 7

Bhubaneswar, 7th Nov 2025:  For the past two days, the night temperature across the state has been falling. Compared to Sunday night, the temperature on Monday night dropped by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius in most places. The chill in the air is becoming noticeable, and temperatures are likely to fall further.

Tonight (Tuesday), the temperature is expected to drop by about 1 degree Celsius, and by tomorrow (Wednesday), it may fall by another 2 degrees.
By Saturday, the minimum temperature may drop to around 13°C, especially in the western and interior regions of Odisha, where the cold will be more intense.

From the 7th of this month, the cold is expected to increase again. On the 8th, temperatures in several parts of Kandhamal district are likely to drop to 13°C. In Rourkela, the night temperature may reach 14°C, in Sambalpur about 16°C, and in Gajapati around 15°C. Coastal Odisha will also experience cooler conditions, according to agricultural meteorologist Dr. Surendranath Pashupalak.

As per the forecast from the regional meteorological centre, the night temperature has already fallen by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius in the past two days. However, for the next 6 to 7 days, no major changes in the state’s night temperature are expected.
