Lamtaput,Jan, 05: Mal region is experiencing severe cold, with temperatures dropping below 5°C. In Lamtaput block of Koraput district, often referred to as the “Kashmir of Koraput,” strong cold has been felt for several days.
For the past two days, temperatures have remained around 5°C, and heavy fog lingers until 11 AM. Mobility is affected as visibility drops to near zero until 10 AM. To keep warm, locals are seen lighting fires, sitting together, and enjoying hot tea, especially in crowded tea stalls.
As the cold intensifies, tourists have started arriving to enjoy the chill of the New Year. Popular spots like Duduma Waterfall, Rani Duduma, and Balda Gumpha have seen a good crowd of visitors despite the cold.
